Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, extending the software across the carrier's domestic and international cargo operations.
IBS Software is to support the airline's modernisation programme with capabilities covering its full range of business functions. For international movements, iCargo is designed to handle requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement and regulatory compliance, while the same platform is applied to domestic cargo flows. IBS Software says the product already serves carriers that combine both sets of demands, and that it offers the flexibility and scale needed to manage them together.
The transition is intended to address key operational requirements in PAL's cargo business, including system performance and data analytics. The platform is positioned to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention.
Airline view
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, called the initiative an important step in the modernisation of the carrier's cargo business. He said that as PAL grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and allows it to deliver a better customer experience, adding that the airline sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
